Now that the UK has officially left the EU, here are three new UK laws that might just affect you!
Mobile Phone Use while Driving
Don’t even pick up your phone while driving.
Technology is amazing, but many people are addicted to their phones. They they gaze at it all the time.
They send text messages while driving or they can’t resist the urge to see how has texted them.
Others are using apps to order food or even play games while they are on the road. Taking photos is common too.
This has increased the number of accidents where mobile phones are in use. In 2021, it is going to be illegal to use one when you drive. If you are caught there can be fines. If you cause an accident while using your mobile phone there can be serious consequences.#
2019 saw 637 casualties on Britain’s roads – 18 deaths and 135 serious injuries – in crashes where a driver was using a mobile.
No more Free Roaming
Using your mobile device from any location is a nice perk. However, the days of free roaming are gone!
In 2021, you can be charged for the charges. If you travel often, this can add up fast. The cost for roaming and the roaming areas will depend on your carrier. It is a good idea to learn about their policies regarding roaming. You may decide it is a good time to change carriers so you don’t get hit with an unexpected phone bill.
Copyright Laws Copyright laws are going to change in 2021 to provide additional protection to artists and publishers.
With the digital age we live in, many of them are getting the short end of the stick.
They aren’t able to obtain the royalties they are entitled to with the current laws in place. The new licensing requirements will help them to get the compensation they are owed when their materials are used online.
